Purpose/Opportunity:
In response to tool run data, the client required investigative digs to inspect and potentially repair anomaly sites.
Methods:
Mechanical and hydro vac excavations were utilized, along with various shoring and trench box designs, to isolate the target pipe segments. This process facilitated the identification of the anomaly area, and subsequent repairs were carried out per NDE recommendation and client specifications.
Results/Benefits:
All 3 digs were successfully investigated, repaired, backfilled, and cleaned up. Of those 3 digs, 1 dig was successfully investigated, but requires a cut-out repair and has been rescheduled at the request of the client’s Operations and Engineering teams. Additionally, 2 digs were removed from the scope and deferred to later this year due to budget constraints. We had an 8-man crew with a 5-week duration. We did work on 16”, 20”, and 36” pipelines.
